Do you love God—but feel like you’re slowly drifting away from Him, and you don’t know why? Are you scared that questioning your church—or your faith—might mean losing everything you love? Do you constantly second-guess your emotions, your voice, even your own intuition—wondering if you’re the problem? Are you exhausted from trying to be good enough, faithful enough, spiritual enough… and still feeling like you fall short? Do you feel spiritually homeless—longing for a safe space where you can be honest, messy, and still welcomed with open arms?
If that all sounds a little too familiar, take a deep breath. You’ve found a place to land.
Healing Religious Trauma is a podcast designed to help you:
1. Rebuild your relationship with a safe, loving God.
2. Feel emotionally and spiritually safe enough to ask honest questions.
3. Hear God’s voice for yourself—without fear, shame, or outside filters.
4. Let go of guilt and reclaim your voice, your worth, and your inner peace.
5. Find a gentle, supportive space where spiritual transformation and healing are real and faith still matters.
Hi, I’m Debra.
A woman of faith who spent decades trying to earn God’s love by doing everything “right.” I was the helper, the volunteer, the spiritual overachiever. But underneath all the striving, I felt disconnected—from God, from myself, and from the woman I longed to be.
Like so many of the women I now serve, I kept trying to pray harder, serve more, and fix myself—hoping the fog would lift, the guilt would fade, and I’d finally feel close to God’s love again. But none of it worked.
What changed?
I finally realized that it wasn’t my faith that was failing—it was the version of it I’d been handed. The one rooted in fear, control, and silence. So I started to untangle the lies, listen for God’s true voice, and walk in the kind of healing that leads to spiritual freedom—not fear.
And the outcome?
I created the kind of compassionate, honest, Spirit-led healing journey I couldn’t find anywhere else. One that doesn’t ask you to throw everything away—just to lay down what was never yours to carry. And that’s exactly why this podcast was born.
If you’re ready to untangle what’s been keeping you stuck—and find real, spiritual healing that doesn’t ask you to lose your faith in the process—this podcast is for you.
Each episode will help you rebuild your trust in God, rest from spiritual performance, and rediscover the voice you were never meant to silence.
You’ll hear real stories, soul-grounded teaching, and healing truths rooted in compassion and true connection.
You can't heal what you can't name.

23 | Why Hope Has to Come Before Spiritual Healing | The Path Home: Phase 2
Monday Dec 15, 2025
Monday Dec 15, 2025
Have you ever frozen when someone asked you what you want? Do you feel guilty for having desires — like wanting something for yourself makes you selfish or unspiritual?
Episode Description
In Phase Two of The Path Home series, Debra reveals why hope has to come BEFORE deep healing can happen — and why most women with religious trauma have lost touch with their own desires. If you've spent years giving to everyone else while your own soul slowly starved, this episode will show you: that's not humility. That's harm. And it's time to reconnect with the dreams God planted in you before anyone told you they were wrong.
In this episode, you'll discover:
→ Why you freeze when asked "What do you want?" — and what that reveals
→ How religious trauma taught you that desire itself was dangerous
→ The truth about Psalm 37:4 and your God-given desires
→ Why becoming who you're meant to be isn't selfish — it's faithfulness
→ How to start planting seeds of hope even when dreaming feels scary
Healing Truth
Your desires are not the enemy. They're not "your flesh." God planted them in you for a reason — and reconnecting with them might just be the most honest prayer you've prayed in years. You have permission to want.
Scripture: Psalm 37:4 — "Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart."

22 | Can You Trust God If You Don't Feel Safe? | The Path Home: Phase 1
Friday Dec 12, 2025
Friday Dec 12, 2025
Do you love God deeply but still feel an invisible wall between you and Him? Have you been serving faithfully for years, but something inside you keeps holding back—and you can't figure out why?
Episode Description
In this first deep-dive episode of The Path Home series, Debra reveals why safety has to come FIRST before real healing can happen. Religious trauma doesn't just wound once—it leaves aftershocks of fear, shame, and guilt that keep running in the background. And often, the problem isn't your faith—it's that someone gave you a version of God that wasn't true. This episode will help you understand why you've been struggling to trust, and what has to be in place before transformation can take root.
In this episode, you'll discover:
→ Why your struggle to trust God isn't a faith problem—it's a safety problem
→ How religious trauma installs patterns of fear, shame, and guilt that shape everything
→ What spiritual safety actually looks and feels like (hint: your doubts don't mean you don't love God)
→ Three powerful agreements that create the conditions for transformation
→ Why preparing the soil has to come before planting any seeds
Healing Truth
You can't trust someone you don't feel safe with. And having hard questions while loving God deeply isn't contradiction—it's courage. Safety isn't weakness. It's wisdom. And it's the foundation everything else is built on.
Scripture: Psalm 91:1 — "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty."

Wednesday Nov 26, 2025
Have you ever walked into a room and felt like everyone else got the map for belonging—but somehow you missed that meeting? Like you're always on the outside looking in, even when you're physically in the room with everyone else?
Episode Description
In this final episode of our 12 Hidden Barriers series, we explore how the "I Don't Belong" barrier gets installed through conditional belonging—and how discovering your soul's calling changes everything. Through the story of Rachel's transformation from spiritual exile to creating belonging wherever she goes, you'll discover why your differences aren't disqualifications but divine equipment, and how to shift from searching for belonging to creating it. This is the summit, sweet friend. You made it.
In this episode, you'll discover:
→ How conditional belonging in religious environments installs the belief that you're too different to fit anywhere
→ Why the places you didn't fit weren't failures—they were preparations for something bigger
→ How Jesus belonged everywhere because He belonged to His Father, and what that means for you
→ The truth that your calling isn't "a thing" you do—it's who you ARE, wherever you are
→ One action step to show up this week as your full, authentic self without shrinking or performing
Healing Truth
You belong everywhere because you belong to God—not because you conform, but because you exist. You were set apart not to be isolated, but to be irreplaceable. Your differences aren't disqualifications; they're your divine equipment. You don't need a map for belonging. You ARE the map for other women finding their way home.

19 | Unworthy to Beloved: Breaking Generational Trauma | Hidden Barriers #11
Wednesday Nov 19, 2025
Wednesday Nov 19, 2025
Do you find yourself giving endlessly—your time, your care, your energy—but struggling to receive anything in return? Maybe you feel guilty when you rest, or you can't accept a compliment without deflecting. Maybe buying yourself something beautiful feels selfish, or letting someone help you feels like you're being a burden.
Episode Description
In this episode, we explore the "I'm Unworthy" barrier and discover that worthiness is not something you earn—it's something you remember. Through Kristina's transformation story from living on "Legality Hill" to delighting in God's presence, you'll uncover how religious environments confuse unworthiness with humility and self-erasure with holiness. This isn't about becoming self-focused—it's about recognizing that you are a polished gemstone, worthy of God's delight, and your transformation can help others find freedom.
In this episode, you'll discover:
→ How "I'm Unworthy" gets installed when service turns into self-erasure and you learn that rest equals laziness
→ What this barrier is costing you in your relationships, spiritual life, self-care, and physical body right now
→ Why God takes great delight in you—not just your service, but in YOU—and rejoices over you with singing
→ The shift from believing you exist to serve to understanding your worth is in who you are, not what you do
→ One practice this week to receive gracefully without guilt, deflection, or feeling like you owe something in return
Healing Truth
Worthiness is not something you earn. It's something you remember. You were born worthy, and that worth has never been in question. God doesn't just value your service—He takes great delight in you. He rejoices over you with singing. You don't have to prove your worth through endless giving and self-sacrifice. Rest, joy, and care aren't just for other people—they're for you too. You are a polished gemstone, worthy of God's delight, and your transformation will help others find their freedom.

18 | Too Much to Fully Seen: Finding Inner Peace | Hidden Barriers #10
Wednesday Nov 12, 2025
Wednesday Nov 12, 2025
Have you ever been told you're too sensitive? Too emotional? Too intense? Too much? Maybe you learned to monitor how much you talk in conversations, always holding back. Maybe you apologize for having needs, or you've gotten really good at making yourself small so others feel comfortable around you.
Episode Description
In this episode, we explore the "I'm Too Much" barrier and discover that you were never too much—you were just in spaces too small. Through stories of transformation, including the revelation that "enthusiasm" literally means "having God within," you'll uncover how religious environments fear female power and authentic expression. This isn't about becoming more demanding—it's about understanding that what you were told was "too much" was actually God's Spirit expressing through your unique design.
In this episode, you'll discover:
→ How the "I'm Too Much" belief gets installed through messages that your emotions are excessive, your needs are selfish, and your passion is prideful
→ Why you weren't born with a problem—you were born with a size eight foot but given a size seven shoe (or smaller)
→ What this barrier is costing you in your relationships, spiritual life, work, and even in your physical body
→ How real love—divine love—doesn't ask you to shrink but invites you to expand into bigger spaces
→ One brave action this week to stop apologizing for your fullness and step into spaces big enough to honor who you are
Healing Truth
You were never too much. You were divinely designed. The fire in you, the passion, the deep emotions, the big dreams—none of that was ever the problem. What you were told was "too much" is actually God's Spirit expressing through your unique gifts. You didn't need to become smaller. You needed bigger spaces, bigger relationships, bigger containers that could honor your divine design. Real love doesn't require you to be less—it celebrates you being fully you.

17 | Scarcity to Abundance: Trust God's Provision | Hidden Barriers #9
Wednesday Nov 05, 2025
Wednesday Nov 05, 2025
Have you ever noticed how easy it is to give to everyone else... but when it comes to receiving—whether that's rest, support, money, or even joy—something inside you freezes up? Maybe you undercharge for your work, or buying yourself something beautiful feels almost... sinful.
Episode Description
In this episode, we explore the "I Don't Have" barrier—a deep-rooted belief that there's never enough for you. Through Tekyia's transformation story from fear-driven obedience to love-based trust, you'll discover how scarcity thinking gets installed through religious messaging and infects both your material and spiritual life. This isn't about becoming materialistic—it's about understanding that God's pleasure is to give you the Kingdom, and you were always meant to flourish.
In this episode, you'll discover:
→ How religious environments confuse scarcity with holiness, teaching you that wanting more means you're selfish
→ Why "I Don't Have" is really about unworthiness—the belief you don't deserve abundance from God, others, or life itself
→ The connection between material scarcity and spiritual scarcity, and how both keep you depleted and afraid
→ How to shift from serving everyone from emptiness to serving from overflow and God's provision
→ One practical step this week to start receiving God's abundance without guilt or fear
Healing Truth
You were never meant to live in scarcity. God delights in your thriving. It is your Father's good pleasure to give you the Kingdom—not His reluctant obligation, but His pleasure. You're not selfish for wanting rest, not greedy for desiring provision, and not spiritually immature for feeling depleted. God isn't glorified by your depletion or honored by your exhaustion. He came that you may have life to the full—and that fullness includes both spiritual and material abundance.
